WHAT TO EXPECT
Meet the Gentle Mountain Gorillas
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is an active expedition with moderate to strenuous hikes. Participants must be at least 15 years old, and should be physically fit. While tracking the Gorillas, guests will trek through thick jungle at elevations ranging up to 10,000 feet, for as many as four to eight hours, depending on the location of the Gorilla group you have been assigned to track. Treks can be arduous; and the terrain can be steep, uneven, wet, and muddy. This trip is not suitable for those who suffer from a cardiac, respiratory, or circulatory disorder or a disability that limits mobility. Our Guides and Rangers will be available to make sure you get the best Gorilla Trekking Safari. We will then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for Wildlife viewing safari.
Exclusive Wildlife Viewing and Boat Cruise
Queen Elizabeth National Park is understandably Uganda’s most popular tourist destination. It is the home of the famous tree climbing lion as well as the Uganda Kob, other antelope species, elephant, baboons, hippos, buffalo and chimpanzees. Over 600 species of birds have been recorded, making the park a magnet for bird watchers. It is habitat for classic big game, ten primate species including chimpanzees and over 600 species of birds.
Culture and City Tours
Uganda is well known for its culture within the East African countries, the history of the country’s kingdoms is now making its own impact on the current tourism industry. This Safari takes you to Kampala top tourist destinations that include Bahai temple which is the only temple in Africa of the Bahai faith, the Uganda Marty’s shrine, a tour of Kampala’s popular Nakasero food Market and Monuments. The Safari ends with a brief tour of at Bemba cave in Ziika ecotourism forest site, Zamugula site and Muzinga square site in Entebbe.
DAY TO DAY ITINERARY
Day One:Kampala / Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Uganda
We will leave Kampala at 7:00am. Our team will be pick you up from your hotel or preferred location in Kampala and we will drive west toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. We will make our first stop at the Equator crossing. It’s a wonderful spot to take pictures and have a cup of coffee. We will then proceed to Mbarara for lunch en route to Bwindi. We will have lunch at Acacia Hotel in Mbarara. It’s great opportunity to try out western Uganda’s Matooke (plantain-type bananas) and roasted goat meat. (if not vegetarian) After lunch, we will drive through the virgin rolling hills of Ankole -Kigezi to the home of the infamous Mountain Gorillas, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arriving at around 6 pm. Overnight at Buhoma Haven lodge (Inc. Accommodation, Breakfast , Lunch and Dinner).
Day Two:Gorilla Trekking
After an early breakfast, we will head to the Headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for an orientation plus meeting the guides as well as separation into the groups basing on which gorilla group you are to be tracking. From there you will set off for your thrilling experience of the Gorillas. Hiking within this mysterious and wonderful forest offers quite a lot to see as you make your way to see the Mountain Gorillas. Look out for additional primates, butterflies, mammals and birds. The trekking will entail thorough climbing before you come face to face with the Mountain Gorillas, watching them only a few meters away. You will see the baby with the mothers, the gorillas partaking their every day routine just right in front of you. Because of tourists like you, we have worked with communities to protect the Gorillas. Our Fair Tourism model supports communities around Buhoma to protect the Gorillas. Day Three: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will have an early breakfast and then travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park entering it through the Ishasha sector renowned for the tree climbing lions. You will have a game drive along the way during which you will see Lions, various Antelope species, Elephants, zebras, Hyenas, Leopards and Buffaloes. In the afternoon, we will go for a two hour boat cruise down the Kazinga Channel that connects Lakes George and Edward. The cruise takes you through the highest population of Hippos and you will see a profusion of animals on the water shores. This launch cruise rewards you with a great opportunity to take photos, watch birds and see the water animals. Overnight at Simba Safari Lodge (Inc: Accommodation, Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day Four: Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast you will go on an early morning Game Drive on the Kasenyi Track, viewing a large fishing area. The Game Drive will take 2-4 hours. We will also tour Kikorongo, where you will encounter both wet and dry Crater Lakes. We will have another game drive in the afternoon to see Lions, Elephants, Topis, Leopards, Bush bucks, Cape Buffaloes, Defassa Waterbucks, Giant Forest Hogs, Uganda Kobs, among others. Day Five: More Game Viewing, Birding and Travel to Kampala
We will go another game drive that will enable you to see wildlife in their natural setting for example buffalo, elephants and other animals that dwell in the grassland thickets of the Northern Kazinga. If we lucky, we might have a rare chance to spot lions prey on other game. Queen Elizabeth National Park is a wonderful birding destination. We will do a round of birding to conclude the safari. A number of bird species will also be seen along including the rare shoe bill. We will drive back to Kampala with a stopover for lunch in Mbarara town and proceed to Kampala arriving late afternoon. Drop you off at your hotel in Kampala. Overnight at Aponye (Inc: Accommodation , Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day Six: Kampala City Tour
After breakfast, start with the Uganda museum, Bahai temple which is the only temple in Africa of the Bahai faith. We will have a Lunch break and then visit the Uganda Marty’s shrine at Namugongo. This is a place where many Christians were burnt to death because of their faith. We take a quick tour of downtown Kampala and visiting the popular Nakasero food Market and the Independence Monuments. Depending on the time of your flight, we will drive to Entebbe Airport for a quick tour of at Bemba cave in Ziika ecotourism forest site, Zamugula site and Muzinga square site. Our drive and tour guide will drive to the airport in time for your flight (Inc:, Breakfast & Lunch)
